Sangre de Cristo Health Care Project located in Guatemala has helped hundreds of families in need by providing basic healthcare service. From medical kits to vaccination programs, the project is funded through donations. Every year a team of surgeons and staff from the Hand Center travel to Guatemala for week. They participate in the project by performing over 100 surgeries on people who normally wouldn't have access. Team members pay their own travel expenses and work from 7A.M. to 7 P.M. The services provided are reimbursed in whatever ways locals can afford—which usually means items like sugar, flour, or salsa are used for payment. Many Guatemalans are hard working laborers, so these procedures give people in need their lives back.
